The work Upcycling Sound transforms sounds that arise together with air pollution into acoustic utopias. The traffic noise of cars rushing by is transformed into the sound of ocean waves, car horns become whale song.

Portable boxes with a crank dynamo make the city perceptible in a new way through headphones. The original sounds are transformed in real time by sound filters and modifications into acoustically similar, but positively charged sounds. Turning the crank creates a utopian soundtrack of the place.

The sound boxes can be operated with energy self-sufficiency.
