The installation “silence compass” interacts with the acoustics of other places over a distance.
The compass indicates the direction of the most silence in realtime, pointing to the „silent elsewhere” in the urban noise floor, the place where to go to experience silence.

The place of the greatest silence is identified by sound level meters. The signal is sent over a mobile network connection to the silence compass in the center of the city.
