Fingertip Vocoder

The FINGERTIP VOCODER as a performance-instrument allows the gestural control and the artificial extension of the own natural voice. Brazen Fingertip-rings act as expansions of the body – a tactile interface worn directly on the performer’s hands. The touch of each finger with the thumb transposes the own voice and overlays it with certain intervals. The performance is an improvised choir piece for one person.

The fingertip-rings act as switches. Connected to the computer, they trigger voice transposition and overlaying. Each finger produces a specific interval. The combination of several fingers creates chords.
