Voice-void-noise

The human voice is both subject and material of this work.
In the process I let the voice generate its own body, which represents the spoken words as object-like traces in space.

In order to do that I interpret the frequency spectrogram of my voice as ‘X-rays’ of the vocal-body. Using volume as a third axis other than frequency and time, the sonant elements of the voice turn into lamella-like extensions: ‘Voice-shapes’ are generated. They become the musical scores of the installation.

Retranslating the video image to sound brings back the audible words. Both the visual and acoustic form of the material – the voice – are transformed through the use of light.
